Dormer, born 11 February 1982, is an English actress from England. Her
accolades include an Empire Award, nominations for the Critics Choice Award
along with two Gemini Awards, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Dormer was
born in Reading, Berkshire. She became famous as Anne Boleyn, a character she
played on the Showtime series The Tudors (2008), which received acclaim from
the public. Her stage debut came in the musical Sweet Nothings (2010). In
Madonna's W.E., she played the character of the Duchess, as well as York.
(2011), and Private Lorraine in Captain America the First Avenger (2011). After
Miss Julie (2012) in the Young Vic, was highly praised. Dormer received
worldwide praise and recognition for her performances as Margaery Tyrell
(2012-2016 on HBO) and Cressida (2014-2015 on The Hunger Games), that are among
her most watched films. She also played Irene Adler/Moriarty in CBS's
Elementary (2013-15), Sara Price Jess Price (2016, 2017) and Onica in The Dark
Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). Her role as Penny Dreadful: City of Angels
which was a miniseries based on Penny Dreadful, was highly and highly
acclaimed. Dormer was born in Reading (Berkshire), England on 11 February 1982.
She is the daughter of Gary Dormer, Claire Richards and Samantha Dormer.
